TILLEY TW2 WINTER HAT
The wool Tilley Winter Hat, styled with a medium size brim, has unique tuckaway ear warmers, forehead warmer and is treated for snow and rain repellency.
It may, all in all, be the best, most practical, general-purpose winter Hat available anywhere. (It should be, we've been developing it, improving it, redesigning it for years!)

Fabric
For material, we selected the same time-proven fabric that you probably would have: an excellent soft and warm wool, woven for us in Montreal. They know cold and snow in Montreal. Fashion too!
The Brown/Black Herringbone Hat is made with a wool/nylon blend, 80% wool for warmth and 20% nylon for added durability. The Autumn Tweed, Charcoal and Olive Hats are made from 100% wool.
To make the Winter Hat rain and snow repellent, we've coated the wool. To make the interior as comfy as possible, we selected strong, long-lasting polyester. The polyester is 'peached' to make it soft and to help trap your body's heat.
We hand-sew each Hat using very strong thread; all seams are lock-stitched so they won't unravel. All Hats are made with such care and dedication that one is as good as another. Your Tilley will be equal to that presented to a president or princess. ("Hi, Duke! How long have you had your Tilley?" could be an effective opener.)

APPEARANCE AND COMFORT:
The downward slope of the brim, both front and back, is intentional: the slope protects your forehead and the back of your neck from wind and snow as much as possible. The slope looks rather dashing, doesn't it?

INSURED AGAINST LOSS:
With your Hat, you'll be provided with "The Straight-Shooter's Statement of Loss of a Tilley Hat" insurance policy. The insurance is for two years, all perils, 50% deductible, and is not issued by Lloyds. We understand the anguish of losing this reliable companion, or of having your dog terminally gnaw it. Should that happen, we'll replace your late, lamented Tilley at half the current catalogue price.

EXCELLENT SUN PROTECTION:
The fabric of all Tilley Hats have been certified to block 98 percent of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and deliver an ultraviolet factor (UPF) of 50+, the maximum rating given.

A FOREHEAD WARMER? AND EAR WARMERS?:
Some years ago, I went out for a walk on a cold, windy winter's day. The wind chill was memorable. After a short while my forehead was so painfully cold that I had to retreat home. Remembering the admonition that 'there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear,' I decided that a forehead warmer was necessary. That's why it's there, and I find I use it, and the ear warmers, fairly often.

REPELS RAIN AND SNOW:
To make the Winter Hat rain and snow repellent, we've coated the wool.

FOR HEAT AND HARD KNOCKS:
Inside the secret pocket in the crown of the Hat is a thin layer of closed-cell insulating foam. Heat rises, and the foam stores some of it. This dense foam also softens accidental blows to the noggin. From time to time people tell us how the peculiar qualities of their Tilley Hats have probably saved their lives!

DON'T LOSE YOUR HAT:
The tether, available in Autumn Tweed and Charcoal colours, keeps your hat from taking flight in high winds. (Click ‘View More Images’ to see how the tether works). Our Brown/Black Herringbone colour has cotton/spandex knit tuck-away ear and forehead warmers that ‘hug’ your ears and provide staying power in high winds. Either way, your Hat will stay where it belongs!

HYDROFIL® ANTI-SWEAT BAND:
Soft and comfortable, it picks up sweat from your forehead and wicks it away to your temple area where it evaporates.

FOR YOUR CONSTANT COMFORT:
Inside the Hat, you'll see at the back a removable Size-Equalization Device held in by Velcro®. Its purpose is to permit you to maintain the same comfortable size regardless of the ear warmers, or forehead warmer, being up or down.

SECRET POCKET:
Inside the crown is a good-sized pocket sealed with Velcro®. In it, carry your I.D., hotel key, $10 bill (in your case, a $20), plus 50¢ for an emergency phone call.

UMPTEEN SIZES:
Most hat makers make 4 or 5 sizes; we make 13, and even individual Hats beyond that size range when necessary. As a matter of principle, no one shall be deprived of the pleasure and privileges of Tilley Hat ownership simply because of an uncommon head size.
